Zhu Zhu Pets

Zhu Zhu Pets and the more recent Kung Zhu pets get their name from Madarin Chinese, where a Zhu zhu is a little pig. But in fact these electronic pets are in fact toy Hamsters! These little robotic hamster have been extremely popular with young kids of 4 years or older just in the last year or so.

These cute toys are interactive with in-built artificial intelligence that enables these toy hamsters to talk and move around on their own in their vey own play sets. They will run around their hamster tubes and quickly scurry from one room to another so that you will really never actually know where they are going to go next!

The amazing and wonderful little toy hamsters were created by toy maker Russ Hornsby and his company Cepia who now produce many different hamster pet characters and various toy hamster habitats and play zones in which the zhu zhu toy animals can live and play.

You can put your Zhu Zhu Pets into one of two different play modes to change their behavior.

Nuturing Mode

When in the nuturing mode, the zhu zhu hamsters simply make quiet noises referred to as “cooing and purring”. And there is also a sleep mode too.

Adventure Mode

When switched to the adventure more these electronic pets will go off and begin to explore their local environment and habitat and they will then respong both in audio and mechanically to things that they find when on their adventure!

These lovable hamster toys can produce over 40 different sound effects and these will simply depend upon the different habitats or environments that they find themselves in.

Life is always changing for the zhu zhu and they will let you know when it does too.

Be on the lookout (in order of popularity…) for Jilly, Nugget, Mr. Squiggles, Scoodles, Winkie, Patches, PipSqueak, Num Nums, and Chunk!

Habitat Add-ons

You can purchase many different add-ons that can be used to build a whole hamster world for your little pigs that they will be able to play inside of and explore for fun.

Look out for the Hamster wheel and tunnel, the Hamster funhouse, the Spiral slide and ramp, an Adventure ball, a Hamster mobile and garage, Skateboard with U turn, Surfboard, sleep dome, a Pet bed and finally the Pet carrier and blanket.

All totally necessary for a happy hamster life!

These accessories enable your kids to collect these together for connection to build and create their personally designed and customizable zhu zhu hamster environments and habitats.

Baby Zhu Zhus

You can also get baby Zhu Zhu pets but these are not actually electronic pets like their parents as they do not have any hair or the parent’s wheels, but their ability to move is provided in a different way. Look out for Peanut, Pumpkin Butter Cheeks, Muffin, Snickle Fritz and Baby Cakes!

Kung Zhu Pets

This is a more recent release from the Zhu Zhu Pet community and is targeted more towards young boys in the 8 to 12 years old range.

These guys (the hamsters that is!) are good and evil combat hamsters and several new a different pets make up this new group of electronic pets from kung zhu toys, which are compatible with the original zhu zhu toys.

This new line also features a storyline, which depicts two armies of hamster that face and train against each other. Once again there are many add-ons to create environments where the toys can battle and play!

You can also get zhu zhu pet games to add to the excitement and fun that these novel toys provide.

The Kung Zhu Storyline

Hamster City where the Zhu Zhu Pets live is in big danger of being raided and then totally taken over by some really evil and bad Ninja Warriors and these hamsters are all set to fight against all of the city’s other less aggressive citizens.

So the city must take action against this threat and so they hand pick several special zhu zhu hamsters to be trained up and become their army of Special Forces to protect the city and the good hamster that live there.

Then after doing their army training these special electronic pets would change from being placid and non-aggressive into fierce and hardened warriors and ninja fighters. And so the story goes on...

To help the Special Forces team in the protection of the Hamster city the you can get additional add-on sets that include the now famous Mission Control Room, a large Headquarters set, two training grounds called Bravo and Alpha as well as the Ambush Alley Pass and Combat Bridge Overpass!

If you are with the Ninja Warriors then you can help with the Ninja and Samurai training grounds, the large Dojo Base as well as Dragon Hammer weapons and the Missile Attack Tower or the Snake Pit Room or Dragon Alley Pass.
